Jeffrey Williams Sr., the father of Young Thug, has publicly criticized several unnamed Atlanta artists for not offering support to his son while he was incarcerated for an extended period. Speaking on the Nothing But the Truth Podcast, Williams Sr. expressed frustration with those who had remained silent during Thug’s legal battles after his arrest on RICO charges, but are now eager to engage with him.

He said: “We got all these rappers and everybody trying to find Young Thug. They wanna talk to Young Thug, they wanna this, that and the other. Where your ass been for 29 months? Why y’all ass ain’t been out there protesting for his constitutional rights being violated? Y’all are the ones considered to be the influencers. Ain’t influencing shit.”

Williams Sr. added: “Now, you want to talk to him. You want to goddamn put out these monkey-a*s videos. All this, for your personal gain. It’s just for your personal gain. Your personal hype. Trying to make yourself relevant.

“Where have y’all been? Where have y’all Atlanta artists been up until now?”

Williams Sr. also shared a specific instance when he reached out to an Atlanta artist for help: “I asked him to do an event on behalf of YSL. And I was told, ‘Let me get with my people and see if I can do that.’ But yet and still, I see you right there beside Young Thug. That’s when he needed the help. So, you know, we gotta stop with the fake.”

There has been speculation that the artist in question could be southern rap icon T.I., who posted pictures with Young Thug shortly after his release from prison.

In addition, Williams Sr. has voiced strong disapproval of some conditions in Thug’s plea deal, particularly the restriction on him living in Metro Atlanta. When asked about it by local news, Williams Sr. replied: “I’m totally against that, because this is where he’s from. To have a district attorney take that away from him … To see her take the man away from where he’s from, to have to go live somewhere else, that’s offensive to me. I’m really offended by that.”
