BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Robert Allen, the XXXTENTACION murder suspect who eluded authorities for over a month after the rap star’s June 2018 death, has yet another obstacle ahead.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, the public defender who was assigned to exercise his right to a fair trial amongst a jury of his peers is abandoning ship.
Allen, 22, was declared indigent (a.k.a. he couldn’t afford a lawyer) and the Public Defender’s office was assigned to take on the case. But seeing that the Public Defender’s office already represents Dedrick Williams, the first suspect to be arrested for X’s murder, they cited a conflict of interest while filing documents to drop Allen while stating, “interests of Mr. Williams are adverse to the interest of Mr. Allen and this adverse interest should be the subject of effective cross-examination.”
A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday (August 1).
Allen was arrested on July 25 after the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force found him laying low at his sister’s Eastman, Georgia home. Williams was apprehended on June 20.
They both have been charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm alongside Michael Boatwright, and Trayvon Newsome (who remains at large as of press time).

The indictment alludes to Boatwright and Newsome being named as the actual shooters in the murder.
