Will Smith recently shared his personal “Mount Rushmore” of actors, and unsurprisingly, he included himself in the lineup.
During a livestream with PlaqueboyMax on Tuesday (March 18), Max asked the iconic actor to name his all-time top actors. In his order, Smith named Marlon Brando, himself, Denzel Washington, and Daniel Day-Lewis.
“I’m not really saying this to be arrogant,” Will explained. “I do think I’m one of the most prolific actors of all time. What I like about my choices is that there’s a distinction between actors and movie stars.”
“An actor can deliver a role and take you through a transformative experience, but a movie star can carry a film on their shoulders. You watch a Denzel movie because it’s a Denzel movie.”
In addition to his acting career, Will Smith is preparing to release his new album Based On A True Story on March 28 — nearly twenty years after his previous release.
On Friday (March 14), the veteran entertainer announced the album’s launch on Instagram, sharing the cover art and tracklist, which is organized into “episodes” rather than traditional songs. Notable collaborations include DJ Jazzy Jeff, Teyana Taylor, and Smith’s son Jaden.
“It’s OFFICIAL!!” Smith wrote in the caption. “My new album Based On A True Story drops March 28. TWO WEEKS!! Hit that presave. Been working on this project for a minute and I’m itching to get it out to y’all.”
Smith’s last album, Lost and Found, was released on March 29, 2005.
Last month, Smith recalled a conversation he had with Prince before the music legend passed away in 2016. According to Will, they discussed the idea of launching an entertainment company with JAY-Z, but tragically, Prince passed away just hours later.
“I talked to Prince eight hours before he died,” Will said. “He called me to pitch the idea, saying that he, JAY-Z, and I should start an entertainment company. He had already talked to Jay, and he wanted to make it happen. We spoke that night, and the next morning – he was gone.”
Since then, Will Smith and JAY-Z have collaborated in various ways, though their companies have worked together instead of merging into a single entity.
