Cam’ron and Ma$e recently weighed in on the long-running debate about the greatest white rappers of all time during a new episode of their show It Is What It Is, which aired on Tuesday (April 15).

When co-host Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson asked them to share their top three, Ma$e responded: “Who’s the guy from Philly that’s signed to Jadakiss [Millyz]? Eminem first, of course. And then you got MGK or Yelawolf. Who you think is better, Killa?”

Cam’ron shared his view: “I’ma go MGK ’cause he’s my man. No disrespect to Yelawolf, I just don’t know a lot of his music.”

Ma$e then gave a nod to the legendary Beastie Boys, but realized he had overlooked another rising name.

“I forgot about Jack Harlow! I gotta do my list over. Jack Harlow is definitely up there,” he admitted.

Cam’ron offered a more in-depth perspective, saying: “Well, Eminem’s definitely number one for me. And then you gotta think about people who pushed the culture forward for white rappers in a time where white rappers really wasn’t being accepted.

“I’ma go with 3rd Bass as a group […] It’s not like they had Eminem lyrics and shit, but they had the Black community when it was really hard for a white person to excel in the Black community. People were like, ‘Fuck outta here’ when Vanilla Ice came around.”

He added: “My third pick is — God bless the dead — Mac Miller […] Jack Harlow’s definitely up there as well but I wouldn’t put him above the three people that I named. I think he’s at the fourth spot, but I think he’s really, really dope.”

Cam also admitted his personal taste didn’t include the Beastie Boys: “I wasn’t really a big Beastie Boys fan, to be totally honest with you. To me, they were more rock ‘n’ roll than rap.”

Although Machine Gun Kelly earned praise from both Cam’ron and Ma$e, his name was missing from a viral AI-created image of a white rapper Mount Rushmore that was circulating online.

The image featured Eminem, Mac Miller, Paul Wall, and Russ — prompting MGK to respond in frustration.

“Me not on the white rapper mt rushmore is blasphemy,” he wrote.

Elsewhere, Cam’ron opened up about his regrets when it comes to missed collaborations during his rap career. On his YouTube show Talk with Flee, he reflected on an artist he wished he had worked with:

“There was a time, probably when we first came out in the late ’90s, early ’00s, I wanted to work with Eminem when his career was taking off and my career with Dipset was taking off.

“I wanted to do a record with Eminem because he’s super-duper lyrical. I can be super-duper lyrical. I dumb a lot of my shit down for my audience but I thought that would have been a sensational record.”

He also named another icon from New York: “The other person would be Nas. That would be the other artist I would have loved to work with at one time.”
