The Grammy-winning rapper previously praised the Tesla CEO.
Tyler, the Creator appears to have had a change of heart when it comes to his sentiments regarding tech and business tycoon Elon Musk.
The Grammy-winning rapper took the stage to close out weekend one of 2024 Austin City Limits Festival as Sunday’s (Oct. 6) headliner, when he tweaked lyrics to Flower Boy‘s “911/Mr. Lonely” to slam Musk.
“Can’t see straight, these shades are Céline Dion/ Sucks you can’t gas me up/ Man, f–k Elon,” he rapped while dissing the SpaceX CEO.
“Tyler, the creator changing the 911 lyric to ‘f–k Elon’ is the best news today,” one fan tweeted alongside a clip of the lyric tweak. “The only dated line in Flower Boy is now fixed, god bless.”
The Odd Future album originally gave a shout-out to Musk on the 2017 track. “Sucks you can’t gas me up/ Shout-out to Elon Musk,” Tyler originally raps on the album version.
“911/Mr. Lonely” originally landed on Tyler’s 2017 Flower Boy album, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and was nominated for best rap album at the Grammy Awards in 2018.
Tyler, the Creator has changed his tune on Elon Musk, as he praised the X owner publicly in the past. He previously plugged Musk on X back in 2016. “I hope you have a good day and any ideas you have and stuff go for them no matter what n—-s say shout out Elon Musk,” he wrote at the time.
Musk replied thanking Tyler, and the rapper continued to show Elon love. “No thank you, keep pushing and going and trying things,” he added at the time.
Tyler will be returning to the 2024 ACL Fest stage this weekend for round two. It remains to be seen if he’ll be taking another jab at Elon Musk during his performance in Austin, which is where Tesla HQ is located.
