While SWV and Xscape are prepping a ’90s R&B girl group showdown for an upcoming Verzuz, Trina has a ’90s female rappers battle in mind between her and Lil’ Kim.

In an interview with 103.5 The Beat, Trina said her dream Verzuz would be with the Queen Bee — and how she would be the biggest fan of her opponent.

“[Lil’] Kim is that bi—. Let’s be very clear. Like this is when I came into the industry, this is who I looked at, looked up to. This is the lyrics that I recited, this is what made me know that it’s OK to talk that lethal sh–,” she explained. “So therefore, I would feel like that’s equivalent because Kim is legendary, and she got mad records.”

The rappers weren’t always on the best terms, but they reconciled around Halloween 2019 following the death of Kim’s father and the death of Trina’s mother shortly before. “On this very day I found out my Daddy passed away. I was so distraught and had to put on a brave face and keep working because I had a show that same night. When @trinarockstarr came into my dressing room we instantly bonded,” the Brooklyn MC captioned an Instagram picture of the two at the venue. “She comforted me and it was exactly what I needed in that moment. It’s as if her Mom and my Dad brought us together and healed our friendship. We both have angels watching over us.”

The Miami rhymer claims their potential Verzuz wouldn’t play into their previous beef, but would feel more like a family reunion.

“It won’t even feel like a competition because it’s a family thing,” Trina continued. “I’m probably gonna be so much more engaged in her records than anything ’cause it’ll go back to when I first heard her, so I’ll be in my vibe, like fanned out…. That’s just what I would say. That’s just my little opinion. But nobody reached out.”

Sounds like Trina is just waiting on a phone call from Verzuz founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, who recently celebrated the musical competition series’ first anniversary.
