NEW YORK, NY – Tekashi 6ix9ine evidently won’t be getting out of jail quite yet.
According to TMZ, lawyers for the rainbow colored-haired rapper were in court on Thursday (July 12) requesting bail for 6ix9ine, who was arrested earlier this week. But, a judge reportedly denied that request after deeming him a “flight risk.”
The arrest stems from an incident at Houston’s Galleria Mall in Texas, where 6ix9ine allegedly choked a 16-year-old boy.
During Thursday’s court hearing, he reportedly pleaded with the judge to let him out on bail, stating he had to take care of his family and had learned a valuable lesson.
6ix9ine was taken into police custody on Wednesday (July 11) at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York. He will remain in a New York jail until his hearing on July 20. He will then be extradited to Texas to face a judge.
The “Gummo” phenom just returned from a European tour, although he was denied entry into the U.K. and was unable to make his London and Manchester shows.
Although it’s unclear why he wasn’t allowed into the country, 6ix9ine has a long rap sheet, including a 2015 child sex crime.
