“Dude, is that Fergie? SMH” he said in a video about his recent discovery of the DM Request folder.
T-Pain posted a hilarious video on Wednesday (April 28) in which he admitted that he had no idea a DM Request folder existed in Instagram until he discovered the gang of A-listers who’d tried to contact him over the years.
“I swear!! I’m just now seeing all these messages and mentions TODAY!!!!” he wrote. “How do I super apologize? Press conference? Town hall meeting? I’m dumb.”
In the accompanying video, an embarrassed Pain looked on as a long list of missed messages scrolled over cartoony music featuring messages of support and requests from the likes of Sech, Pia Mia, Diplo, Kway, Nate Robinson, Tyler Cameron, YBN Nahmir, Viola Davis, Keri Hilson and dozens of others. In the video he wrote, “I was today years old when I found out about the request folder on Instagram that’s full of celebs trying to reach me.”
As he watched the requests roll by, he added, “Dude is that fergie?! smh.” Then, after actually shaking his head, he said, “I’ve been accidentally straight up ignoring all these people for like 2 years. I thought DM’s are supposed to just show up in the normal folder and you don’t have to go digging for all these.”
Feeling contrite, he apologized to everyone on the long roster of ignored DMs, as well as the many he couldn’t fit into the clip. “Yup……. I’m stupid,” he admitted. Some of Pain’s fellow artists got a good laugh out of the oversight, with Yung Bleu joking in comments, “U done ignored some millions.” Flying Lotus was equally dumbfounded, writing, “B R U H.”
