The concert series will feature performances across all five boroughs of New York City.
Capitol One City Parks Foundation is back with another diverse, star-studded lineup for this year’s monthslong SummerStage event in New York City, featuring T-Pain, Counting Crows and more in a schedule unveiled Tuesday (April 23).
The season-long concert series, which features a mix of free events and ticketed benefit shows, kicks off May 17 when James Arthur takes the stage in Central Park. Masego and Jordan Ward, Pride Disco with Trixie Matell, Amanda Lepore and Jess King and Ethel Cain with Teethe will perform at the same location at later dates throughout the summer. Also featured this season of the SummerStage are Kim Gordon, Andra Day, Corrine Bailey Ray, Ghostface Killah, Sun Ra Arkestra, Slauson Malone 1, Caifanes + Café Tacvba, Madison Cunningham, LA LOM, John-Robert, Corrente: Beatriz Mira & Tiago Barreiros and more.
The “Buy U a Drank” hip-hop star is also bringing his Mansion in Wiscansin Tour to Central Park on June 23, while the “Hanginaround” rock band is slated for a charity show there on July 11.
“We are thrilled to once again celebrate the vibrant diversity of New York City’s cultures and communities across all five boroughs,” said Erika Elliott, Executive Artistic Director of SummerStage, in a statement. “Our lineup will shine a bright spotlight on some of music’s most iconic female artists who have made an impact in their genres, from rock and New Orleans soul scions to Dominican merengue and Brazilian samba legends.”
This year’s SummerStage will also include recitals from The Metropolitan Opera and showcases from the Blue Note Jazz Festival, 97.9 La Mega, Federation Sound 25th Anniversary, Works & Process: It’s Showtime NYC and DJ Rekha’s Basement Bhangra Beyond across more NYC venues, such as Coney Island Amphitheater, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Jackie Robinson Park, Williamsbridge Oval and Herbert Von King Park.
“We are continuing to support rising artists from around the world who are showcasing their fresh takes on various genres like hip-hop, Americana, rock, Latin, pop, and more,” Elliott added. “2024 promises to be an unforgettable season!”
This year’s SummerStage follows 2023 performances from Grandmaster Flash, Tanya Tucker, Noel Gallagher and more. Many of last year’s showcases came in celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, which emerged from the Bronx in the 1970s.
