This year, Snoop Dogg gave fans a special 4/20 treat: his 18th studio album, From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites. The 36-minute-long G-funk project is filled to the brim with classic West Coast synths, Nate Dogg-esque vocal melodies and deep bass grooves, sure to transport already elevated listeners to a sunnier place.
The 10-track album includes two pot-centric titles, “Roaches in My Ashtray” and “Left My Weed,” in addition to a handful of features including fellow N.W.A collaborator Kokane, former Eastsidaz co-members Tray Dee and Goldie Loc, and new wave West Coast rappers Mozzy and Larry June. Lyrically, Snoop Dogg sticks to traditional G-funk topics: cars, money, sex and, of course, weed. The self-proclaimed “King of 420” also premiered the project’s fourth music video, for “Look Around” featuring J Black. In the nostalgic video, Snoop reflects on classic rap records, re-creating the cover art from LL Cool J’s Radio, Ice Cube’s AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted and Ice-T’s Power, among others.
When he’s not in the studio cooking up the next weed-smoking anthem, Snoop is busy with his latest endeavor: Triller Fight Club. The pay-per-view boxing entertainment platform co-owned by Snoop has already welcomed chart-topping artists including Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and Saweetie to the stage. Snoop’s own rap supergroup, Mt. Westmore (Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Too $hort and E-40), debuted their first single on the fight club “Big Subwoofer.”
