“These songs represent my experience as a Black woman through the highs and lows of love & self-love.”

This year for Black History Month, Billboard looks to salute Black women for their strength, resiliency and courage. With Black female artists always being innovative and audacious with their art and platforms, especially during last year’s fight for racial equality, it was necessary to empower those with our stage this month. Every Monday and Wednesday for Black History Month, Billboard will dish out new playlists from Black women artists highlighting powerful messages.

Last November, Rico Nasty crashed the party with her sizzling debut album Nightmare Vacation. The acclaimed project showcased Rico’s versatility as she collided with Gucci Mane, Trippie Redd and Don Tolliver while also leading an all-female brigade on “Smack a B—h.” Rico’s audacious personality and “love yourself first” demeanor are why she’s the perfect fit for our Black History Month playlist.

For her collection, Rico enlists Rihanna, SZA, Erykah Badu and more to preach self-love for her “Love Yourself First” playlist. “These songs represent my experience as a Black woman through the highs and lows of love & self-love.”
