MIAMI, FL – Rick Ross is writing a memoir, and he’s not shying away from one of the most controversial aspects of his past.
On Tuesday (March 5), the Maybach Music Group boss announced plans to release Hurricanes: A Memoir this fall.
“A storm is coming,” he wrote on Twitter. “#HURRICANES PRE-ORDER MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY HERE! amzn.to/2EPAR6T.”

An official description for the book confirms it will address his time as a correctional officer.
“From the making of ‘Hustlin’ to his first major label deal with Def Jam, to the controversy surrounding his past as a correctional officer and the numerous health scares, arrests and feuds he had to transcend along the way, Hurricanes is a revealing portrait of one of the biggest stars in the rap game, and an intimate look at the birth of an artist,” it reads.
Ross’ C.O. past was infamously exposed by websites such as The Smoking Gun in 2008. Although Ross initially denied the reports and claimed photos of him in uniform were doctored, he eventually admitted the truth later that year.
Hurricanes: A Memoir is being co-written by Neil Martinez-Belkin. It’s scheduled to drop on September 3.
“My story has always been deeper than rap,” Ross said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “With this book I wanted to go deeper than I ever have. I wanted to tell people about the life of William Leonard Roberts.”
