Post Malone settled in and got very comfortable for a nearly four-hour ramble on Joe Rogan’s podcast, weighing in on the Chainsmokers’ non-socially distanced car concert and dipping into his UFO experiences.
Rogan and Malone discussed the recent ‘Smokers drive-in show in the Hamptons, with Rogan initially questioning why people are steamed over everyone watching from their cars. “What the f–k is wrong with that?” Rogan asked.
Then it was made clear to him that fans got out of their cars and were “all standing around,” as opposed to staying in the vehicles.
Still, after Rogan and Malone ran down the reported safety measures undertaken by the venue and the promoter, at the end of the day, Malone said he didn’t think the fault was on the Chainsmokers.
“It depends on intent, I think,” said Malone, who was wearing a pink button-down Oxford shirt. “Are there cars there? Was it a drive-in concert?… that’s not on them if the people got out of the cars.”
“Cuz I know the boys in the group, sweet guys… I think it was a s–tshow that just got out of f–ing hand,” he added.
Elsewhere, Rogan and Posty chatted about E.T.s, and Malone quickly revealed that he’s seen multiple UFOs in his lifetime, even as the podcaster/comedian admitted that he wants to believe, but just can’t. “I’ve seen one. I was probably 16. I was in upstate New York and it would just stay there,” Malone said. (The epic chat opened with them having a Bud Light cheers and announcing that they’d both taken psychedelic mushrooms.) “Let me precursor this: My aunt and uncle were very strict, and we had to go to bed at very strict deadline — probably 10 p.m. I was looking out the window with my cousin and it’s just a light that just stays there and then just f—in’ goes off … You can’t explain it.”
Though the chain smoking “Circles” rapper would add that caveat that his memory on the incident was “medium” at best, he noted that he’s had plenty of other alien encounters in his current home state of Utah and in California. “I used to live in Tarzana … It looked kind of like — it sounds corny — but like a classic like forcefield,” he said. “It’s kind of like a dome in a circular shape and it just goes like this and goes back in… In Tarzana, looking down at the f—ing city. And I’m like, ‘How did no one else see this?’ But I was there with like four other f—in’ people, and they saw it too.”
Though he’s sheltering in place and working on his next album, with all his 2020 shows on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Posty said he thinks everyone should be wearing masks, but definitely is not down with assessing fines for the maskless. “It’s like me in school having to tuck in my shirt or else you get detention,” he said. “It’s weird to be forced to wear something… At the end of the day, it all comes down to respect for other people. It’s not a government thing. You shouldn’t be forced to wear a mask — but you should. And that’s because I respect you as a fellow human.”
The pair also touched on one of Malone’s other favorite topics, haunted buildings, wakeboarding, the Halo video game, whether aliens are cute or not (and whether they control their guns with their butts), as well as a side chat that had Posty asking Rogan for a beard hair for a “cloning” project he’s working on at home.
