Post Malone is back and he’s here to play.

Ahead of the Pokémon Day 25th anniversary celebration and virtual concert, the hip-hop superstar returns with a cover no one saw coming. Posty dropped a version of Hootie and the Blowfish’s 1995 single “Only Wanna Be with You,” only this time it’s the “Pokémon 25 Version”.

With the notable exception of his outstanding live-streamed Nirvana tribute last April, and a showstopping performance at the Billboard Music Awards, the “Rockstar” singer has kept quiet by his standards over the past year. Indeed, “Only Wanna Be with You” is his first release in 2021 so far, and his first single as a lead artist since 2019.

Malone will make some noise this weekend. He’s slated to headline the Pokémon Day virtual concert, which presses play this Saturday (Feb. 27) at 7:00 p.m. ET and can streamed for free on the official Pokémon YouTube and Twitch channels, and on the official Pokémon’s 25th anniversary website.

Posty’s most recent studio album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, dropped in 2019 and went to No. 1 on both sides of the Atlantic and around the globe, while its singles “Circles” and “Sunflower” topped the Billboard Hot 100.
