Pooh Shiesty made his television debut Wednesday night (April 14) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, performing the lead single from his Shiesty Season mixtape, “Back In Blood.”

Later joined by Chicago rapper Lil Durk, the Billboard Hip-Hop and R&B Rookie of the Month emerged next to a classic Buick model, donning an Off-White hoodie, his pant pockets filled with stacks of bills.

“Back In Blood,” which peaked at no. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and no. 2 on the Rap Streaming Songs chart, was released through Atlantic Records and 1017 Records, Gucci Mane’s label under Warner Music Group. It was the Memphis rapper’s first song as a lead artist to make it into the charts, with “Neighbors” featuring Big30, “Box of Churches” featuring 21 Savage and “Big Purr (Prrdd)” with Coi Leray following.

In his Rookie of the Month interview with Billboard, Shiesty said his success was destined. “I’m finally getting the shine I deserve,” he explained. “I feel like I’ve been an underdog for a long time.” He also credited his hustle to his father, a fellow rapper, and time spent living with his mother in Texas. “He gives me advice on everything,” Shiesty said. “Like on how to move, how to exit shows, and how to think ahead of times in the studio. [He taught me] how to put money to the side, to think about longevity, and everything. That’s my OG. ”
