NBA YoungBoy has reportedly been released from prison ahead of schedule after spending nearly a year incarcerated.

Prison records confirm that the rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was freed from a federal correctional facility in Talladega, Alabama on Monday, March 24.

As reported by Akademiks, the 25-year-old artist is now back in Utah, where he had been previously sentenced to house arrest as part of his federal gun case.

“NBA Youngboy is home spending time w family. Has a curfew for 30 days and has to stay at certain location (NO DOX),” the media personality posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Akademiks also hinted at upcoming tours from the rapper, stating: “Have some patience. TOUR is locked in. YB fans get ready. Give him some time though. Well give u more info when available.”

Friends, family, and collaborators have all celebrated YoungBoy’s early release. Fellow Never Broke Again member OG 3Three shared his excitement on Instagram: “UHHHHHH OHHHHH MY [green heart emojis] is finally back home #AllGloryToGod no more.”

Rich The Kid also expressed his joy on X: “YB FREE !!! [praying hands emoji].”

NBA YoungBoy had his initial release date moved up to April 26, from the original July date, though the reasons for his early release remain unclear.

The Baton Rouge native had been arrested in April of the previous year and faced charges related to running a prescription drug fraud operation in Utah.

YoungBoy pled guilty to several charges, including identity fraud, forgery, and unlawful pharmacy conduct. However, he avoided jail time, instead paying a $25,000 fine.

The judge chose not to impose a prison sentence for those crimes, considering YoungBoy had already been sentenced to 27 months behind bars as part of a separate plea deal related to a gun case from 2020.

During his time in prison, YoungBoy made headlines for releasing a new album titled More Leaks and reportedly getting into a fight with another inmate.

Terrance “Gangsta” Williams, Birdman’s brother, claimed earlier this month that YoungBoy attacked another prisoner for shouting the name of his rap rival Lil Durk’s OTF crew.

As a result, YoungBoy was allegedly placed in solitary confinement. However, it appears that this incident did not influence the timing of his release.
