Megan Thee Stallion played in her home state of Texas at the Austin City Limits festival on Saturday and used her set as an opportunity to vent her anger toward the state’s controversial bill that prohibits abortions as early as six weeks. The disputed Republican-led bill went into effect Sept. 1, becoming one of the most suppressive abortion laws in the U.S. today.
“This middle finger is also to these motherf—ing men that want to tell us what the f— to do with our body,” Meg said as the crowd of festivalgoers roared and waved their middle fingers in agreement. “‘Cause how the f— you gonna tell me what to do with my motherf—ing body? Drop that sh–,” she continued.
After the festival, the rapper also discussed her frustrations with the new bill on Instagram, writing, “Y’all know I’m a Texas girl and we deserve better! Politicians want to cut off abortion access and control our bodies, lives, and futures — I’m speaking up.” She concluded her post with the “#BansOffOurBodies” hashtag and a text code for fans to take action.
Billie Eilish also voiced her frustrations with the state’s bill at ACL last weekend, telling the crowd, “When they made that sh– a law, I almost didn’t want to do the show. Because I wanted to punish this f—ing place for allowing that to happen here.”
