On Wednesdays, Megan Thee Stallion and Reneé Rapp wear pink — and announce new music.
The duo finally shared details of their upcoming song for the Mean Girls movie in a Wednesday (Dec. 13) announcement, complete with the single’s cover art and release date. Titled “Not My Fault,” the track will arrive Friday (Dec. 15).
“not my fault with @theestallion for @meangirls out this friday,” the “Snow Angel” singer wrote on Twitter.
On the cover, Meg and Rapp stand in a room full of blonde wig-wearing mannequins, embracing each other as they show their cheekier sides to the camera. The “Cobra” rapper sports a fluffy pink headpiece while Rapp holds a pink baseball bat in the air.
The two stars first announced the collaboration with a Sunday (Dec. 10) Instagram video shared to Rapp’s official updates account starring the “Plan B” artist. “It’s Megan Thee Stallion, aka the Black Regina George, and I’m excited to introduce my girl to the stage,” she said in the clip, aptly dressed in all-pink. “We have a new song coming out for Mean Girls. That’s right, give it up for the new fantastic plastic, Renee Rapp.”
Rapp stars as Regina George in the upcoming Mean Girls film, a live action adaptation of the Broadway musical version of Tina Fey’s 2004 movie of the same name. Fey will reprise her role as Ms. Norbury, and Bebe Wood, Avantika, Chris Briney, Angourie Rice, Auliʻi Cravalho and Jaquel Spivey will make up the rest of the main cast.
Mean Girls hits theaters Jan. 12. See the announcement for “Not My Fault” below.
