Hip Hop’s favorite Hot Girl Meg kicks off summer with a video for “Realer,” off her just-released project Fever.
“Houston has a problem. Megan Thee Stallion and Thee Hotties will solve it,” reads the clip’s opening text, introducing us to a fictional hater known as “Ill Will Jackson.” We’re shown a fiery-haired Meg and her three accomplices combating said enemy all throughout Houston, as Meg remains front and center while spitting her bars.
Complete with golden weapons, a vintage convertible, and various warm-colored backgrounds, the Munachi Osegbu-directed clip is reminiscent of a 70s action film. Osegbu is also credited with bringing Meg’s “Big Ol’ Freak” video to life.
The visual comes on the heels of Meg’s recent BET nomination for Best Female Hip Hop act, as well as the her first cover story via the Fader, where she infamously speaks on the difficulty of being a woman in Hip Hop, “[And then] being a girl too — they criticize you harder than they criticize men,” she says, “If I was out there making little noises like Uzi and Carti be making, they would not rock with that. And not saying that they don’t be going hard, because we definitely finna turn up to both of them, but if it was a chick, like — no.”
