Meek Mill Shares Thoughts on Drake’s Legal Battle with UMG Over Kendrick Lamar

Meek Mill has been reflecting on his past conflict with Drake after his former rival took legal action in his more recent (and less successful) feud with Kendrick Lamar.

The issues between Meek and Drake started in 2015 when the Philadelphia rapper accused his “R.I.C.O.” collaborator of using ghostwriters.

While the alleged ghostwriter was revealed to be Quentin Miller, the 6 God was generally seen as the winner of the beef, especially after the success of his sharp diss track “Back to Back.”

Now, with Drake suing Universal Music Group for defamation over Kendrick’s “Not Like Us,” Meek was asked about his thoughts on his former rival turning a rap beef into a legal matter.

“I WONDER HOW @MeekMill FEEL BOUT DRAKE SUING…….CAUSE N-GGAS SAID THIS N THAT BOUT HIM…… DRAKE WENT ALL OUT ON MEEK,” battle rapper Arsonal Da Rebel wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday (January 16).

Although Meek didn’t address the UMG lawsuit directly, he shared his thoughts on the aftermath of his feud with Drake and how his label at the time tried to prevent him from releasing new music.

“Label told me don’t drop nothing .. I went against that and dropped dc4 mixxtape ‘Shari Bryant backed me herself’ 90k first week to heat up,” he wrote.

“I couldn’t make any playlist either that had me confused a lil losing confidence but I knew 80% was campaign! Influence for the net only.”

He continued: “It all comes down to who know who …once I started owning companies I wanted to be in convo with the high level shakers and owners if I made more than 100m on a label because not the only business I got and I deal with the top people at companies to get top results!

“I’ma champ I loss many things I learn from them and move on! 2025 my team right now ima make a 100m off rap because I was in a system so long ima break that jawn I time for the ‘mime.’”

Meek Mill was previously pulled into Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s feud last year when Akademiks suggested that he played a role in triggering the historic battle.

The media personality claimed that Meek could have and should have taken down Drake during their 2015 feud, given Meek’s experience as a battle rapper.

“So now it’s given Drake the level of confidence to say, ‘Yo, I’ve defeated the battlers of the battlers. These guys really don’t wanna see me,’” he said during an appearance on the Full Send podcast.

“And now we realize Meek Mill — as 50 Cent said — is a special type of stupid. Like literally, anybody could have defeated him. I defeated him on Twitter [and] he just blocked me.”

Akademiks continued criticizing the Dream Chasers rapper, saying: “The guy is so dumb. He’s one of the few people that you’re like, maybe we gave Drake too much credit for beating this guy.”

“Meek has a remedial, slower person’s brain. If you put an actual able-bodied brain in there, he might have beaten Drake.”
