Lizzo ‘Finally’ Made the TikTok Pasta, But With a Vegan Twist

Lizzo whipped up a vegan version of the infamous TikTok pasta this week, and it’s safe to say it was good as hell.

Finnish food blogger Jenni Hayrinen made the original recipe go viral in her country in 2019, before American food blogger MacKenzie Smith brought the trend to the U.S. by way of TikTok this year. The dish calls for an entire block of feta cheese that’s surrounded by cherry tomatoes and drizzled with olive oil and baked in the oven until it softens into a creamy sauce where the pasta and basil get tossed in. But the Grammy-winning artist’s vegan diet for the better part of a year called for some modifications on Hayrinen’s uunifetapasta (which is Finnish for “oven-baked feta pasta”).

Lizzo showed off her take on the TikTok pasta on Tuesday, using Spero vegan goat cheese instead of feta and Banza high-protein chickpea penne pasta. She also seasoned the cheese and cherry tomato oven combo with a drizzle of honey and chilli flakes “because I seen some people do that on this app or whateva.”

“And that’s how my baby looks, y’all,” the “Cuz I Love You” singer narrated while flexing the final dish and taking the first bite in her clip, which has been viewed more than 1 million times on the app.
