Lil Xan has apparently announced his retirement. During a special Mac Miller tribute on Open Late With Peter Rosenberg, Xan called into the Complex show and opened up about what the late Pittsburgh artist meant to him.

He quickly revealed he’s no longer going to pursue a rap career.

“What Mac Miller meant to me — he was my idol, my hero, the main reason I really wanted to pursue music ’cause music was really never what I wanted to do,” Xan admitted around the 19:20 minute mark. “I wanted to be a photographer and just got tangled in this life.

“He’s the reason I pursued music and mainly the reason I’m quitting music.”

Xan added he’s also tired of the hate. “I just don’t wanna deal with that,” he said.

Miller died on September 7 of a suspected drug overdose. Since then, the Hip Hop community has come out in droves to voice their shock and grief. Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore, Machine Gun Kelly and Ty Dolla $ign were some of the many who participated in the tribute episode.

Xan ended his commentary with, “I still can’t even think that you’re not on this planet anymore. So, we miss you Mac. I love you.”

The 22-year-old’s latest album, TOTAL XANARCHY, was released in May. Most recently, he urinated on the platinum plaque for his “Betrayed” single, which seems indicative of how he feels about his career.
