NEW ORLEANS, LA – Lil Wayne recently sat down alongside New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. for an interview with ESPN and some people evidently found that funny. Veteran New York sports journalist Frank Isola made a comment about the interview and suggested Weezy’s presence somehow took away from Beckham’s credibility.

Wayne has clearly been paying attention. On Tuesday (October 9), he addressed Isola’s comments on Instagram and issued a stern warning.

“I’ve been hearing things like, if [Beckham] wants to be taken seriously, why would he do an interview with Lil Wayne sitting next to him?” he says in the clip. “Frank, I rock with you. I actually like you. When you come on TV, I like your heavy New York, Italian whatever accent, I like the way you do your thing, you say what you want to say, you get your point across.

“But you mentioned my name, my name came out your mouth this time. When that happens, I’m going to fire back at you. I don’t know much about you though. Fact is, you don’t know much about me. With that said, keep my name out your mouth.”

Wayne also touched on Beckham’s teammate Eli Manning — who is also from Wayne’s hometown of New Orleans — and his comments about the Beckham interview. When asked about Wayne being there, he told sports reporter Dan Duggan he didn’t “watch” Wayne.

“To Eli,” Wayne continues. “Every time somebody bad mouths you, I’ll be the first one to say — you can ask Skip Bayless, that’s my homie, shout out Skip — is ‘man listen, I got an uncle that was doing time that remembered seeing Eli, Archie, Peyton, Cooper. He remembers seeing them at five in the morning every other morning on the schoolyard, way before the students get there, practicing.

“I’m the first one to back you up … and here you talk about you don’t watch Lil Wayne much. That’s fine, that’s fine. I’m cool with you, I don’t care what you watch or listen to. But you know, this is hometown love, man. You ain’t gotta do me like that. I didn’t say anything bad about you.”

Wayne closed his video by imploring Manning to listen to Tha Carter V.
