Lil Nas X took to Twitter on Tuesday (June 2) to share his reaction to a popular video from the Black Lives Matter protests happening in Texas.
“The time has arrived,” the rapper captioned his gleeful retweet of the viral video, which features a group of at least a dozen Black cowboys riding up to the protests on horseback.
As the modern-day cowboys — who reportedly belong to the Houston, Tex.-based urban trail-riding club known as the Nonstop Riders — triumphantly crest a hill with their fists raised, cheers can be heard erupting from the surrounding crowd of protestors.
(As it turns out, Lil Nas X wasn’t the only country star obsessed with the clip. Kacey Musgraves also retweeted the the video, writing “HERE FOR THIS” in all caps.)
LNX’s on-brand tweet of the viral moment came the same day he questioned the veracity #BlackoutTuesday, a social media blackout which saw a proliferation of black squares take over many users’ Instagram feeds. It prompted him to express to his fans that going silent for a day in the middle of the ongoing nationwide protests against police brutality “is the worst idea ever.”
