Lil Baby jumps from No. 13 to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated March 13) to become the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time. Sparking the coronation, the rapper’s new LP My Turn opens at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 197,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
Lil Baby (real name: Dominique Jones) also lands 14 songs from the album on the Billboard Hot 100, with “Woah” leading the way at No. 15 (a new peak), and “Heatin Up,” with Gunna, a debut at No. 18.
The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
Bad Bunny soars from No. 51 to No. 2 on the Artist 100, marking his first week in the top 10, as his new album, YHLQMDLG, arrives at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 179,000 units. As previously reported, the star scores the highest-charting all-Spanish-language album ever; the biggest streaming week ever for a Latin music album; and the largest week for a Latin title since Billboard began tracking albums by equivalent album units in December 2014.
Rounding out the Artist 100’s top five, BTS drops to No. 3 after six total weeks on top; James Taylor re-enters at No. 4, as his new album, American Standard, starts at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, giving the folk legend an unprecedented streak of top 10 titles in each decade since the ’70s; and Post Malone drops 4-5.
