Lauryn Hill and the Fugees have abruptly pulled the plug on their U.S. tour, just days before it was scheduled to begin.

On Tuesday (August 6), the dates were removed from Ticketmaster and Live Nation, with ticketholders also receiving cancelation and refund notices.

An explanation for the cancelations has yet to be given and neither Hill nor the Fugees have commented on the matter.

The 18-date tour, part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of Hill’s debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, was set to begin on Friday (Auugust 9) in Tampa, FL.

Shows were also booked in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Houston and Los Angeles, with the U.S. leg coming to a close in the Fugees’ home state of New Jersey on September 21.

Tickets remain on sale for the European leg of the tour, which is set to begin in Manchester, England on October 12.

This isn’t the first time that Ms. Lauryn Hill has frustrated her fans who are eager to see her on stage.

Last year, she was forced to postpone several tour dates after damaging her vocal cords.

“As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month,” she wrote on social media. “I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time.

“In order to prevent any long term negative affect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely.”

She added: “For this reason we have to reschedule most of the remaining shows this year. The shows that were cancelled this year will be rescheduled for early 2024 AND because of the overwhelming response, we’ll be adding new cities to the tour, including overseas. We’re working on the new calendar now, and announcing soon.”

Despite the continued disappointment surrounding her live performances, there is speculation that both Lauryn Hill and the Fugees are working on new music.

Hill’s son YG Marley, whose grandfather is the late Bob Marley, hinted at a new solo project from his mom during an interview with TMZ in May.

The following month, it was reported by Page Six that the trio of Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel are quietly cooking up their first album since 1996’s multi-platinum The Score.
