LOS ANGELES, CA – The night after Nipsey Hussle’s March 31 shooting death, a slew of people swarmed the intersection of Crenshaw Ave. and Slauson Ave. to pay tribute to the slain rapper. During the memorial, shots were reportedly fired and people quickly fled the scene, leading to a stampede.

LAPD later debunked the report of gunfire but is now reportedly saying two people did, in fact, get shot. According to TMZ, a new search warrant indicates one person was hit in the elbow while another was shot in the lower back/buttocks.

The woman who sustained a gunshot wound in her rear said she heard a “loud, rapid succession of gunshots from an unknown direction.” Police believe the shooter (or shooters) was attempting to kill someone and are confident it was caught on surveillance.

The affidavit reportedly says there’s a “surveillance system [that] captured the events leading up to, and after the attempted murder of unknown Victim,” but several employees at the strip mall have refused to hand over the video.

“The Marathon store has been involved in numerous investigation where surveillance video has been deleted by staff/management, prior to police arrival,” the affidavit continued.

Nineteen people were reportedly injured in the melee.

As details surrounding the melee at Nipsey Hussle’s memorial continue to trickle in, the LAPD is attempting to “restore order” and say reports of shots fired “appear” not to be accurate.

In two separate tweets, officials say, “Our men and women are on scene and making every effort to protect everyone in attendance at the Nipsey Hussle vigil. Reports of shots fired at the vigil do not appear to be accurate. We do have injured in the chaos and are attempting to restore order.

“We understand the community is mourning and we feel your loss. We are asking for everyone to follow the officers directions and disperse from the immediate area.”

According to a follow-up tweet from CBS Los Angeles, police said no shots were fired but did suggest someone was stabbed.

“UPDATE: Police say no shots were fired at the memorial,” the tweet read. “Authorities investigating possible stabbing. Multiple people injured.”

In an initial tweet from KCAL9 Los Angeles reporter Jeff Vaughn, he alleged “shots fired” and indicated two were injured at the Hyde Park memorial.

Only a day after Nipsey Hussle was gunned down in front of his Los Angeles clothing store, the violence continues — this time, at his memorial. Two people have reportedly been shot and six others have been reportedly stabbed as attendees hurled rocks and candles into the crowd.

One reporter told KGW8 it appeared two people were also run over as they tried to flee.

Footage captured by CBS Los Angeles shows a large, peaceful crowd but suddenly everyone starts to scatter. Multiple people were trampled as they tried to get away.

The Grammy Award-nominated rapper was shot and killed on Sunday afternoon (March 31).
