Kid Cudi is stepping away from significant parts of social media, and he feels great about it.

On Thursday (December 19), the rapper announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he would be leaving the platform and adjusting his social media presence overall.

“I think my time is done on twitter,” he stated. “If u wanna stay connected to me Ill have my ig, Ill keep yall updated thru my stories but I wont be posting much on there either. Just projects and things I got goin on will be posted by my team.”

He then explained his reasons for the change.

“I see too much bullshit on here and life is much cooler being disconnected,” he added. “I think Ive been too accessible, now when u hear from me itll be through my art. I love yall, its been real. Goodbye.”

One of the “projects and things” Cudi is working on is his memoir, which now has a release date.

On Tuesday (December 16), the Cleveland-born artist revealed that the book will be released on August 5 next year, titled Cudi: The Memoir. Although the cover is yet to be revealed, pre-orders for the Simon & Schuster publication are available now.

In a follow-up post, Cudi shared his belief that the book will be life-changing for readers.

“So im reading this first draft, tweaking, fixing things, and im half way through and I know this book is gonna change so many peoples lives and inspire,” he wrote. “My story is so unique and real and raw and truly one of a kind. The shit reads like a fairy tale its crazy.”

Kid Cudi first announced he was working on his autobiography in September 2022, revealing that he would discuss his “troubled boy” beginnings.

Cudi, who lost his father to cancer at the age of 11, and whose deeply personal and confessional music has earned him a dedicated fanbase, admitted he felt nervous about sharing his private life.

“Started writing the first chapter of my book,” he wrote at the time. “Its comin together really well. Tellin my story in my own words is scary, but I feel like it needs to be told. I feel like everything will make a lil more sense as to why you all met such a troubled boy in the beginning.”
