Despite his recent immense success, Kendrick Lamar seems to be maintaining his focus on staying fit. A viral video from Monday (March 10) shows the Compton-born artist performing a calisthenics workout in a public park in California.
The footage captures Kendrick completing several pull-ups with his knees bent for added challenge while wearing a hoodie, even though the weather was warm and sunny.
Although the outdoor gym was fairly crowded, none of the people around him appeared to realize they were in the presence of a rap superstar who recently performed in front of over 133 million viewers at the Super Bowl.
In recent years, Kendrick Lamar has made fitness a priority, and he recently discussed his workout routine in a rare interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“My early-morning practice is that I have to run. When I started running, that’s where I started to understand. There was this threshold of pain in the spirituality for me,” he said.
“I remember my shins was aching and I was like, I got one mile to go. Then I get whispers and downloads and start talking about shit that I want to know about. And next thing I’m three miles in, four miles in. I wake up and do that shit every day.”
The 37-year-old was previously spotted doing pull-ups during a trip to New York City in 2022.
Joined by Harlem natives A$AP Ferg and Dapper Dan, as well as pgLang associates Dave Free and Teanna Leone, Kendrick was seen engaging in a pull-up contest with Ferg’s uncle, T-Nyce, using a scaffold as a bar.
Despite T-Nyce being larger, Lamar effortlessly powered through the bodyweight exercise, even adding hanging leg raises to demonstrate his strength.
In 2023, Kendrick gave his fans a peek into his workout routine via his burner Instagram account, posting a video of himself training in a park in Los Angeles.
Wearing a black baseball cap and sweatpants, Kendrick sang along to Con Funk Shun’s “Straight From the Heart” while performing pull-ups and push-ups.
Additionally, Lamar revealed in his collaboration with Baby Keem, “The Hillbillies,” that he consumes 150 grams of protein daily, which supports his muscle-building efforts.
