Kendrick Lamar is seen as the frontrunner for Hip Hop’s MVP of 2024 after defeating Drake in a rap battle. However, Kendrick recently declared that Doechii is the “hardest” rapper in the game today. He made this statement in a rare social media post on October 17, sharing an image of her mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, along with the comment: “the hardest out [alligator emoji].”
Doechii expressed her gratitude on her own Instagram, saying, “Thank you Dot. You the greatest,” and added, “Getting your flowers while you can still smell them >>>.”
This recognition is timely, as Doechii appears in a new CashApp ad created by Lamar’s company, pgLang, indicating their ongoing connection.

Recently, she mentioned her desire to collaborate with Kendrick but noted she feels she’s not quite ready yet. On The Joe Budden Podcast, she shared, “I don’t assume anything… I would absolutely love that. That’s the goal.” She also mentioned that she plans to reach out to Kendrick or ask Top Dawg for a feature when she feels prepared.
The podcast hosts praised her humility, with Budden commenting, “I love that from you.”
Doechii has had a successful year, with her mixtape receiving acclaim, including praise from fellow TDE artist ScHoolboy Q. After its release in August, he tweeted, “Just Here to say DOEcHii… dats all I care about at da moment.” The mixtape has even drawn comparisons to Kendrick’s breakout Section.80, with TDE founder Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith expressing that it gave him similar feelings to when Kendrick first debuted.
