Kanye West and The Game have come together for a strange new track titled “Tina,” which centers around Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles. The collaboration has caused quite a stir, especially through Instagram posts where both West and The Game have been provocatively engaging with the 71-year-old music manager.
It all started when West shared a screenshot of The Game sending a banana emoji to Knowles via Instagram DM. He later posted a clip of her appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, captioning it with “Game finna slide.” It soon became clear that the duo wasn’t just joking but actually working on a song about Tina Knowles, with West filming Game as he recorded his part.
In the song, Game raps: “I see my Destiny’s Child / DMing was stressing me out / Nervous, my stomach in knots / So I took a couple of shots.” The track also incorporates samples from Knowles’ interview on the talk show and Tina Turner’s classic hit “What’s Love Got to Do with It.”
The pair eventually released a music video for “Tina,” where they appear in balaclavas and high-visibility jackets, exchanging verses. At the video’s end, the camera focuses on an unidentified man in a balaclava, who narrates the backstory, explaining how The Game’s Instagram post about DM’ing Tina Knowles spiraled into a full music video, and how this could lead to an entire album, possibly The Documentary 3.
The song is not yet available on streaming platforms, and it’s uncertain whether it will appear on The Documentary 3 due to West’s recent challenges with clearing samples. Beyoncé and Tina Knowles have not yet commented on the release.
