Juelz Santana & Fivio Foreign Call Out Lil Yachty For Dissing New York

Juelz Santana and Fivio Foreign have taken aim at Lil Yachty for his criticism of New York fashion.

In a recent episode of his A Safe Place Podcast, Yachty claimed that his hometown of Atlanta is the real trendsetter when it comes to fashion and that the Big Apple has been biting the Big Peach’s style.

“I feel like New York didn’t have this — I don’t want to say identity — but everyone used to just kinda copy Atlanta,” he said to podcast guest and New York native Cash Cobain, who immediately took issue with his statement. “You said it yourself. Even, like, the influence was extremely heavy from Atlanta […] As far as style goes, I don’t think it’s shit going on when it comes to New York fashion.”

Lil Boat also took particular aim at people from the Bronx and Queens: “I feel just people on those outskirts — Queens, Bronx — do they even come to [Manhattan to shop]?”

It didn’t take long for some of New York’s finest to hit back at Lil Yachty for his remarks, with Juelz Santana taking to Instagram to issue a rebuttal.

“WE all Love Atl But did @lilyachty SAY say the flyes [ninja emoji] N the Most TRENDSETTERS Came from ALT WOW Much love bro,” he wrote.

He then highlighted the fashion influence that both himself and fellow Dipset rapper Jim Jones have had on Hip Hop culture, as well as the impact of other fashion-forward NYC figures like A$AP Rocky and Fabolous.

Brooklyn-bred drill star Fivio Foreign also chimed in, writing on X (formerly Twitter): “How Yatchy say ATL dress better then ny w a whole NY fit.”

Following the backlash, Lil Yachty attempted to clarify his comments in a video posted to TikTok.

“When you go back to a certain time, it’s for sure New York. But if you think about lately, all the trends come from Atlanta!” he said. “First off, I got nothing but love for New York. I think a lot of the flyest people in the world were born in New York.

He added: “I apologize to the Bronx if they feel some kind of way about that comment. Amiri down, do your thing. I be in New York so don’t fucking rob me. It was a joke.”

However, he was also adamant about Atlanta being the more influential city on the fashion scene: “Come on, bruh. As of lately? Atlanta! And L.A., don’t try and get in this. I’m telling you, bruh. When it comes to the flyest trendsetting people, it’s Atlanta.

“You can argue with your mama, you can argue with your daddy. I see people from L.A. trying to get in the conversation. [You got] nothing to do with this. High socks and chinos. Chill.”
