With the November presidential election just around the corner, Jhené Aiko is doing her part to get out the vote.
To help raise awareness, the R&B singer has recorded an original song, titled “Vote,” that will appear during an upcoming election-themed episode of the ABC sitcom black-ish.
“I just want to get to the ballot/ I just want to feel like I’m valid,” Aiko sings on the track. “It’s the best way to make my voice heard/ And it should be automatic/ That’s my American right/ I just wanna focus on my vote.”
“Vote” will be featured in the first of two back-to-back episodes of black-ish, airing Sunday (Oct. 4) beginning at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
The hour-long episodes will “follow the Johnsons as they navigate the upcoming election, with Junior (Marcus Scribner) embarking on his journey as a first-time voter and Dre (Anthony Anderson) launching an exploration into local politics,” according to a news release.
In March, Aiko earned her fourth No. 1 on Top R&B Albums with Chilombo.
