Since the start of the new year, Jazmine Sullivan has been riding high on cloud nine. Not only did she notch a top five debut on the Billboard 200 for her comeback project Heaux Tales, but she also performed at the Super Bowl alongside Eric Church, and recently landed on the cover of Essence. On Sunday night (June 27), she succinctly described her magical run in one word — “amazing.”

“It’s amazing because I’ve received so much love, and I got Black women to kind of come together for the project,” Sullivan told Billboard on the red carpet at the 2021 BET Awards. “They felt seen, they felt heard, and that was the goal.”

One shining collaboration from the project was “Girl Like You,” featuring H.E.R. Sullivan gushed about H.E.R’s artistry and said the two previously spoke about working together again.

“I love H.E.R. Whenever she’s ready, I’m down,” said Sullivan. “We already talked about doing some more work. So whenever we get the opportunity to work, I look forward to it.”

Another possible reunion Sullivan is eying is with Anderson .Paak. The duo previously paired up on Sullivan’s standout record “Price Tags,” and she admitted to wanting to do an EP with the Silk Sonic singer if the opportunity presents itself.

“He’s a musician. He’s just dope,” she said of Anderson. “The way he creates his music, the way that he rhymes, the way that he sings with that soulful voice — I love it! I feel like both of our voices would complement each other.”

On Sunday, Sullivan rocked the BET Awards with an exceptional performance of her new record “Tragic” with special guest congresswoman Maxine Waters and “On It” featuring Ari Lennox. She also won the coveted album of the year award for Heaux Tales. And though Sullivan is enjoying her glorious run, she reassured fans that more music is on the way.

“I’m constantly working, so some more stuff should be coming,” she said with a smile.
