JAY-Z saluted a fan for jokingly running up on him and sharing his preference in the long-running “dinner with JAY-Z or $500K” debate.
A fan by the name of K Rich pulled up on Jigga in the tunnel at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on Monday night (October 16) during the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers game. He later posted a video of the encounter on Instagram.
“I’m taking that $500,000. I ain’t taking that dinner, I’m taking that $500,000,” he told the Roc Nation mogul, who quietly gave him a fist bump and patted his chest while rocking a gold watch and holding a tote bag. “Aye, it’s love though. You feel me?”
JAY-Z responded: “Be good, man.”
K Rich faced backlash for his brazen comments, though, with some people criticizing him for doing too much during the encounter.
“The approach could have been iconic, but the topic threw off the vibes,” one person wrote in his comments section. “Just dap the man up and keep ya conversation you were excitedly having between you and whoever. Like Bro, how was game and where you rooting for Chargers or Cowboys? Simple.”
Another wrote: “Jay z look like he won’t you too get tf out his face.”

JAY-Z also got some facetime on the ESPN broadcast of the Cowboys-Chargers in the second quarter. Announcer and NFL legend Troy Aikman joked about the meme comparing how he and Jay look alike.
“There’s a meme that’s going around. People think that’s my doppelgänger,” Aikman said as the camera panned on Hov pouring himself a drink in his luxury suite. “Me and JAY-Z, how about that?”
The “dinner with JAY-Z or $500K?” debate took over social media in 2021, with fans contemplating what would be more valuable. Even the rap legend’s former streaming platform TIDAL weighed in by telling fans on Twitter to take the cash.
21 Savage, on the other hand, is confident he can claim both. The Atlanta rapper manifested a Hov feature in 2021 and then doubled down by saying he’ll score the cash as well since he was blessed with “the gift of gab.”
“I’ll get both,” 21 wrote confidently on Twitter at the time. “I was blessed with the gift of gab.”
