Is Whole Lotta Red finally on its way? After years of delays, Playboi Carti’s hotly anticipated sophomore album looks to be en route based on his captionless Instagram post late Tuesday night (April 14).
The rapper opted to go for a blue backdrop for his forthcoming project, but remained mum regarding the details. On Sunday (April 12), Lil Uzi Vert tantalized fans with a cryptic post on his Twitter. The since-deleted tweet read “Playboy Carti :),” fueling speculation that the elusive star might be on the verge of a comeback.
Last year, Carti covered Fader and spoke on his album’s setbacks. “I could be done if I wanted to. I’m just trying to top s–t,” he said of Whole Lotta Red’s delay. “I might make the hardest song ever tomorrow.”
The following month during a show, Carti promised that his project would drop in 60 days with no features. The rapper went silent on his word, leaving fans vexed.
Carti’s debut album, Die Lit, arrived in 2018. The surprise release was well-received by fans and entered the Billboard 200 at No. 3 during its opening week.
