After the N.W.A alum initially shot down rumors of a follow-up to Friday After Next in 2016, co-star John Witherspoon said Cube got the “green light” for a sequel during an interview with The Power 95.3 GetUpCrew in Orlando last year.
Last May, the West Coast gangsta rap pioneer finally confirmed Last Friday was in the works but didn’t reveal any details.
The film’s official IMBD page, which was last updated on May 3, names Cube and Mike Epps as cast members, and also lists its status as “filming.”
What We Know So Far About Ice Cube’s Last Friday
In 2017, the “Today Was A Good Day” legend told daytime television host Wendy Williams, “It’s a big check” and pointed out original cast members like Epps, Witherspoon, Chris Tucker and Tiny Lister “want a bigger check.”
“They were all unknowns at the time,” Cube added. “Now, they’re household names.”
The first Friday film was released in 1995 and quickly became a cult classic. Last Friday would mark the fourth film in the series.
