“I never thought in a million years I’d be in the White House,” the rapper shared.
GloRilla got the opportunity of a lifetime recently when she was invited to Washington, D.C., to meet President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House.
“It was so cool, I was geeked,” the “Tomorrow 2” rapper shared in a new interview with CNN she posted to X (previously known as Twitter) on Thursday (March 21). “Everybody don’t get to meet the President and the Vice President. […] I never thought in a million years I’d be in the White House. Then, I was in the White House and got to meet the President and Vice President? I was like, ‘Now, they can’t mess with me!’”
Journalist Laura Coates then read a text from Glo’s mother that read: “I’ve come with being the woman with a bunch of kids, living in a blue house with no furniture in Frayser to the classiest, most beautiful, and most talented rapper of this generation’s mom who’s moved on up to a beautifully furnished house. Get ’em, Glo!”
In response, the rapper shared, “It meant everything to me, because we really did come from absolutely nothing. […] It was just a proud moment for my mama. That’s one of the reasons that I be more happy about my accomplishments because of how proud my mama and daddy be.”
In her Instagram post from the White House earlier this week, Glo is seen taking a selfie video with Biden, exclaiming, “Yeah, Joe!” The President then sweetly replies, “Not ‘Yeah, Joe.’ Yeah, you!” See the post here, and watch the CNN interview clip below.
