Future announced today (July 8) that he’s launching the “I’m Still a Dreamer” Georgia COVID-19 Scholarship to incoming college freshmen through his FreeWishes Foundation.

“You don’t have to be in the perfect situation or come from the perfect background to reach for your dreams. Despite this Covid-19 pandemic, I encourage all dreamers to continue to dream big,” the Atlanta-based rapper said in a press statement.

To apply for the scholarship, high school graduates must submit a personal video describing how the novel coronavirus pandemic personally affected their lives. Applicants must have a minimum 3.00 grade point average, reside in the state of Georgia, and be currently enrolled in an accredited college for fall 2020. The maximum scholarship award is $2,500.

Future (real name Nayvadius Wilburn) co-founded the FreeWishes Foundation with his mother Stephanie Jester and sister Tia Wilburn-Anderson to make an impact on lives young and old within the metro Atlanta area by making their dreams come true. The Grammy award-winning artist awarded the FreeWishes College Scholarship, two tickets to his Legendary Nights Tour with co-headliner Meek Mill, and an exclusive “I’m A Dreamer” sweatshirt last summer to a fan at each stop.

“We acknowledge that many families have been financially impacted by COVID-19. As we fast forward into this new climate we would like to continue to make dreams come true and wishes come true,” Jester said in the statement.

But that’s not the “Mask Off” rapper’s only contribution to combatting coronavirus’ bleak effects. His FreeWishes Foundation cleverly spearheaded the “Mask On” campaign based on his No. 5 Hot 100 hit by collaborating with local sewing company Atlanta Sewing Style to make and distribute more than 100,000 masks to hospitals, relief centers, and other facilities, according to Complex.

Interested incoming college students can find out more about the “I’m Still a Dreamer” Georgia COVID-19 scholarship here. Submissions are due July 27 at 3 p.m., and the winners will be announced Aug. 4. The lucky recipients will also win an exclusive “I Am A Dreamer” hoodie.
