For this week’s edition of First Beat, YoungBoy NBA returns with another album, while Trippie Redd and Lil Tecca give us a sneak peek into their future efforts.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again, “Top”

YoungBoy’s prolific output remains the embattled star’s hallmark. With his fourth project in less than two years, the Baton Rouge powerhouse crafts 21 new songs for Top, recruiting Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg as its only features. Whether he finds himself in a jam on “Cross Roads,” or speaks on his relationship woes on “To My Lowest,” YoungBoy’s passionate anthems will keep fans charged up for the remainder of 2020.

Trippie Redd feat. Busta Rhymes, “I Got You”

As fans await the release of Trippie Redd’s hotly anticipated Pegasus album, the Ohio upstart re-imagines Busta Rhymes’ 2003 hit “I Know What You Want” for his latest single. Oozing with silky melodies, Redd’s penchant for love-drunk hooks shines, while Rhymes furnishes the track with a punchy verse. Pegasus will serve as the follow-up to Redd’s Billboard 200 No. 1 album A Love Letter to You 4.

Lil Tecca, “Our Time”

After being busy on the features front with his appearances on Internet Money’s B4 the Storm album, Tecca gifts fans a bite-sized treat with his song “Our Time.” Dancing his way through the island-tinged track, Tecca doesn’t waste time bragging about his drip and shunning clout chasers. Will Tecca squeeze in a fourth-quarter release after netting a top five debut on the Billboard 200 last year?

T.I. feat. Young Thug, “Ring”

Previously connecting on 2014’s platinum single “About the Money” and 2018’s “The Weekend,” T.I. and Young Thug reunite once more for “Ring.” The Atlanta twosome flattens the opposition with bruising barbs led by Thugger, who vows to make it “ring” on the chorus. T.I. is as menacing as Thug, seeking retribution against those who are seeking his downfall.

Spillage Village feat. J.I.D & EarthGang, “Baptize”

With their new album Spilligion looming, the lyrical supergroup Spillage Village dazzle on “Baptize.” Dreamville’s J.I.D and EarthGang share the spotlight and flex their muscles over the Christo- and Hollywood JB-produced beat. Spillage Village is composed of J.I.D, EarthGang, 6lack, Mereba, Jurdan Bryant, Hollywood JB, and Benji and will release their debut album Sept. 25.

CalenRaps, “Long Time”

CalenRaps delivered his soul-stirring Homesick album in Jan. 2020 and has since released a bevy of one-off records to stave off his fans’ hunger. With “Long Time,” Calen’s humility and candor bleed through the somber tune, as he touches on his relationship with his brother and family ordeals. Basketball references are aplenty, with Calen nimbly namedropping NBA players Derrick Rose and Eric Snow.

Ayanis, “Lil Boi (Big Talk)” feat. Jack Harlow

Ayanis enlists budding Louisville slugger Jack Harlow for her catchy remix to “Lil Boi (Big Talk).” Previously matched up with Queen Najia on the original song, the multi-faceted singer doubles up on her stance of wanting a real man when pursuing a relationship. Meanwhile, Harlow keeps his 2020 winning streak intact with another fiery verse.
