Drake recently tried to team up with Justin Bieber for a collaboration, but it seems like Bieber is not on board with the idea.
On Sunday (April 6), Bieber posted on Instagram, addressing his nearly 300 million followers: “Dm me if u wanna make music together.”
Drake, in a surprising move, responded in the comments, claiming that Bieber had ignored his direct message, writing: “I DM’d but no reply.”
As of now, Bieber has not responded, but his post attracted collaboration offers from other well-known artists.
Big Sean, who collaborated with Bieber on the 2012 hit “As Long As You Love Me,” commented: “Check Dm’s.”
Kehlani also expressed interest, writing: “Whewwhewwww.”
Jaden Smith, a long-time friend of both artists, also chimed in: “Check your DMs gang.”
Rising country artist Bailey Zimmerman, who recently worked with BigXThaPlug, also dropped a comment: “WE NEED COUNTRY JB.”
In an Instagram post from last year, producer Hit-Boy shared an interesting backstory about how a beat originally meant for Big Sean ended up being used by Drake and Justin Bieber for their collaboration “Right Here.”
He wrote: “Crazy story for throwback thursday. This is a clip of Justin Bieber and Drake working on a beat I produced for their song ‘Right Here.’ The funny thing is Big Sean and J. Cole had a song called ‘24k of Gold’ over the same beat, and I had to choose who to give the beat to.”
“That was TOUGH but Sean being the solid dude he is told me to run it with Bieber and Drake cuz he knew it was a A1 look for me. Salute to him for that! I never even knew they caught a vibe to the second beat playing at the end—I made that too. Time flies.”
In the comments, Hit-Boy also praised Big Sean for being “solid as they come” and referred to Drake as “legendary.”
“Right Here,” released in 2013, remains the only collaboration between Drake and Bieber, although Drake made a cameo in Bieber’s iconic music video for his breakout hit, “Baby.”
Despite their star power, “Right Here” was not a chart-topping success, peaking at only number 95 on the Billboard Hot 100.
