Drake’s recent legal actions against Universal Music Group might have further damaged his reputation, especially after his perceived loss to Kendrick Lamar, but that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to take shots at his rival.
On Tuesday (December 3), Drake tuned into a livestream hosted by Twitch star LosPollosTV, where he mocked Kendrick by parodying a popular line from Kendrick’s latest album GNX.
While LosPollosTV was expressing frustration about streaming services supposedly playing Kendrick’s hit “Squabble Up” after Drake’s Certified Lover Boy album, Drake joined the comments section and wrote: “we need a donut emoji in the chat.”
He then made fun of Kendrick’s viral “Mustaaard!” line from “TV Off” by writing: “CUSTAAAARRRRRD.”
However, Drake’s attempt at humor didn’t go as planned, as fans on social media quickly ridiculed him.
“Every day Drake shows us exactly how corny he is smh,” one user wrote, while another said: “There’s literally no defending him at this point lol he’s legit acting like a manchild.”
Others were frustrated by Drake trolling Kendrick online instead of responding through music.
“Same [guy] who was calling other rappers ‘twitter fingers’ is online yapping instead of making a record,” one commenter observed, while someone else said: “That’s just like Drake. Make another very odd move on the internet.”
This marks the latest in a series of non-musical jabs Drake has made since being seen as the loser in his diss battle with Kendrick.
Last month, Drake appeared on Canadian streamer xQc’s Kick channel and declared: “I’m here — mind, body and soul fully intact, in case you were wondering. You need facts to take me out; fairytales won’t do it,” referring to the wild allegations in Kendrick’s diss tracks.
In perhaps the most controversial (and unprecedented) move yet, Drake even brought the ongoing feud to court by filing two “pre-action” legal petitions against UMG, the parent company of both his label Republic and Kendrick Lamar’s longtime home, Interscope.
Drake accuses the music giant of using streaming bots and payola to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick’s diss song “Not Like Us,” causing him “economic harm.” He also claims that UMG defamed him by knowingly releasing a song accusing him of being a pedophile.
UMG has strongly denied any wrongdoing, and Kendrick—who is not named in the legal filings—has yet to comment.
It remains uncertain whether Drake plans to pursue a lawsuit against UMG or any other parties involved in the alleged conspiracy.
