After receiving the Best Female Hip Hop Artist award at the BET Awards, Doechii delivered a powerful critique of Donald Trump and his immigration policies. Onstage, the TDE artist used her speech to address the political climate, specifically protests occurring in Los Angeles against ICE agents.
She declared: “There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order.”
The rapper behind “Anxiety” continued: “Trump is using military forces to stop a protest. I want you all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is that?”

She added: “People are being swept up and torn from their families. I feel like it’s my responsibility as an artist to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people … We all deserve to live in hope and not fear. I hope we stand together.”
In the past few days, Los Angeles has seen heightened unrest due to a crackdown on undocumented immigrants.
Protesters gathered in opposition to the raids, and Trump responded by deploying over 4,000 National Guard troops.
Additionally, active Marines were sent to the area.
Despite often responding to public criticism from entertainers, Trump has yet to address Doechii’s remarks.
Lately, Trump has been a hot topic in Hip Hop circles due to speculation that he might grant a presidential pardon to Diddy if convicted of sex trafficking.
50 Cent expressed his disapproval of any potential pardon, referencing Diddy’s prior criticisms of Trump.
Trump had initially commented that he would “consider” a pardon for Diddy after reviewing the “facts.”
However, this did not sit well with 50 Cent, a sporadic Trump supporter and vocal critic of Diddy.
Reacting to the news, 50 stated: “He said some really bad things about Trump, it’s not OK. Im gonna reach out so he knows how I feel about this guy.”
