DJ Khaled Always Plays ‘The Clean Versions’ of Hip-Hop Songs Around His Kids: ‘We’re Protective’

DJKhaled and his wife Nicole Tuck discuss the major keys to their family life, which includes censoring explicit music, on the January 2021 cover of Parents.

When the megawatt music producer and entrepreneur isn’t listening to Sade and Aretha Franklin after he kisses his wife and sons, 4-year-old Asahd and almost 1-year-old Aalam, in the morning, he’s letting Asahd mess with his turntables because “music is a big part of our life.” But there are some no-brainer rules in their house out of fear of their boys growing up too fast.

“We’re protective. We’re definitely cautious about the TV, and when we listen to hip-hop, it’s always the clean versions of everything. That’s mandatory!” he said in the cover story interview.

The laid-back family of four, who can be spotted either chilling poolside with Shaquille O’Neal or having father-son heart-to-hearts in golf carts, sport matching tropical-printed ‘fits on the magazine cover, which Khaled shared on his social media Wednesday (Dec. 2).

“The most important thing in my life is my FAMILY and being a parent! FATHERHOOD changed my life!” Khaled wrote in the caption. “My Queen, Asahd and Aaalam I love you all so much! You make me great! Thank you @parentsmagazine ! Bless up all the parents!”
