DJ Drama believes that Pusha T’s forthcoming Gangsta Grillz mixtape will likely snag him another Grammy.
The Philadelphia-bred DJ enjoyed his first taste of Grammys success last year when Tyler, The Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost, which he hosted, won Best Rap Album.
While speaking with Complex on the red carpet before the 2023 Grammys kicked off on Sunday (February 5), Drama predicted that his “spicy” collab with King Push will emerge victorious at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards next year.
“The Pusha T Gangsta Grillz definitely gonna be spicy,” he said. “I feel like it could potentially be the next mixtape to win a Grammy.”

Pusha T and DJ Drama formally announced the mixtape in December, telling Rap Radar‘s Brian “B. Dot” Miller that the project was officially on the way. Additionally, Push spoke about the tape in an interview with XXL, calling the project “special.”
“I’m working on a special mixtape,” he said, before explaining why he wanted to drop a Gangsta Grillz mixtape at this point in his career.
“To have the fun I want to have,” he said. “What I’m trying to do is restore the feeling in every aspect of this subgenre of music. And just of this cloth, of this taste level.”
He added: “I’m just trying to make people realize how viable this is. To show people that I can’t do what you do, but you definitely can’t do what I do. I have to show those differences. That’s the whole premise behind the mixtape.”
Pusha also hinted that the upcoming tape could see him returning to the lyrical prowess of the Clipse’s acclaimed We Got It 4 Cheap Vol. 2 mixtape.
“If you can get Vol. 2 level out of me on that. Woah,” Pusha said.
DJ Drama has been on a Gangsta Grillz tear since reviving the series last year, dropping multiple high-profile tapes with Tyler, The Creator, J. Cole and Dreamville, Jeezy, Snoop Dogg, Jim Jones and more.
“I’m thankful for the resurgence of Gangsta Grillz and the numerous projects that I’ve done this year,” Drama told HipHopDX in November. “I don’t even want to start naming them because I don’t want to forget any. But you know, the Jeezy SnoFall is quite the talk of the town.
“The feeling that we restored together, the combination between me and Jeezy and what we brought to the game, and to be here 17 years later putting out a monster project that people are really appreciating and really talking about, I’m thankful for that day.”
While Pusha T didn’t take home any hardware at the 2023 Grammys, his It’s Almost Dry LP was nominated for Best Rap Album but lost out to Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
