Artists paid tribute on what would have been the rapper’s 29th birthday.
Mac Miller’s longtime tour companion, DJ Clockwork, released a 48-minute remix album, Mac Miller Remixxed, on Tuesday (Jan. 19) to celebrate what would have been the rapper’s 29th birthday. The album pulls together 16 remixes of some of Miller’s most beloved songs, including “Nikes on My Feet,” “Jump,” “Kool-Aid & Frozen Pizza,” “Ladders” and “Dang!” among others.
“Thank you to Mac Miller’s family for giving me their blessing to do this this mix. Happy Birthday Mac Hope you listening up in the clouds! One love,” wrote Clockwork in a dedication on the Soundcloud mix. In addition to the songs, the album features spoken-word interludes from some of Mac’s pals and admirers, including Thundercat, Peanut, his first tour manager, Willy Whipz, as well as Bill Waves of Daily Bread.
Miller’s final album, Swimming, was released in August 2018, just one month before his accidental drug overdose. The Jon Brion-produced posthumous collection Circles was released in Jan. 2020.
