Sean “Diddy” Combs has been accused of “brutally” attacking Cassie after allegedly discovering she was involved with another man.
These claims surfaced during opening arguments in Diddy’s sex trafficking trial, which began in full on May 12.
Prosecutor Emily Johnson described a violent incident during the couple’s 11-year relationship, alleging Diddy “physically abused” and “exploited” Cassie.
She claimed that after learning about Cassie’s supposed affair, Diddy became extremely angry.
Johnson stated: “Furious he set out to find her. He said he would kill the man.”
Although Diddy broke into the man’s home, he didn’t find him there.
Later, he allegedly located Cassie and “brutally” assaulted her, “kicking her in the back and flinging her around like a rag doll”.
The prosecutor also said that Diddy, upon learning of the affair, threatened to release explicit videos of Cassie with male prostitutes.
She added that he kept the videos as “souvenirs of the most humiliating nights of her life”.
Diddy has denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty.
The trial is expected to last between eight and ten weeks, and if convicted, he could face several decades behind bars.
He declined a plea deal offered by the government and chose to proceed to trial. When asked in court, Diddy confirmed: “Yes, I did.”
He acknowledged that going to trial could result in a longer prison term if found guilty, though the terms of the plea deal weren’t disclosed.
During jury selection on May 5, Diddy admitted to feeling nervous.
He told the judge: “I’m sorry your honor, I’m a little nervous today.”
Roughly 90 minutes into the session, he asked to use the restroom. The judge initially denied the request but soon changed his mind and granted it.
