Los Angeles, CA – Compton’s Most Wanted is back with their first new album in 13 years, Gangsta Bizness.
The 17-track effort finds CMW’s MC Eiht and Tha Chill rounding up the usual suspects for a G-funk journey, including Too $hort, Kurupt, Kokane, Weazel Loc and Suga Free, among others.
“Just to be able to stay true to the heritage and foundation and to be able to create CMW music in these sign of the times is just humbling,” Eiht tells HipHopDX. “The lane has been cemented.”
Much like Eiht’s DJ Premier-assisted Which Way Iz West — which boasted a laundry list of notable artists — the new CMW project has that “wow factor.”
As Tha Chill told DX last November, “You wouldn’t expect Eiht to get it in like that,” he said. “These days, it has to be something special about us. We older cats. For the new cats, they gotta be like, ‘What’s so dope about these old dudes?’
“It’s dope that Lady of Rage and Bumpy Knuckles straight coming from Compton, you wouldn’t even imagine that. That’s what we up into. That’s why I think this new Gangsta Bizness from CMW gonna have a lot to offer as well.”
Gangsta Bizness follows 2006’s Music To Gang Bang and Compton’s O.G. — a lifetime ago when it comes to making albums.
Tha Chill adds, “13 years can be a growth or death. It’s hella gangsta to still be in business with a partner I started with and still have people of our culture excited about us, still fuckin wit it and ain’t sleepin’ on our legacy. Gangsta Bizness is for the real CMW fans that’s been rockin wit us since The Blue Tape. #salute!”
