Chicago drill rapper King Von (born Dayvon Daquan Bennett) died at age 26 on Friday morning (Nov. 6) after he was shot at an Atlanta nightclub, the Atlanta Police Department confirmed to Billboard.
The shootings took place around 3 a.m., when an argument between two groups turned into a fight, Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Timothy Peek told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Bennett arrived at a hospital shortly after the shooting via private vehicle.
The rapper, who grew up on the South side of Chicago, was known for his sing-song style on tracks such as “Crazy Story” and “What It’s Like.” He was also childhood friends with fellow MCs Lil Durk and Chief Keef.
Following the tragic news of his death, the hip-hop community took to social media to mourn the loss of one of its rising stars. See below.
