Beyonce is looking back on a bittersweet 2020.
Queen Bey took to Instagram on New Year’s Day (Jan. 1) to share a heartfelt video montage reflecting on the ups and downs of the past year.
In the four-minute IGTV clip, the 39-year-old superstar touches on the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of voting in the presidential election, while also celebrating the success of her Black Is King film on Disney+ and her record-setting nominations at the upcoming Grammy Awards.
“Cheers to a New Year Beyhive!! 2020 divided us and united us. Most could not see loved ones and we felt too many losses, but we were united by our humanity,” Beyonce captioned the video. “This year for me has been about celebrating joy, chasing happiness, and living in love.”
Soundtracked by several of her recent hits, including the “Savage” remix with Megan Thee Stallion, Bey’s video also featured unseen footage of her and Jay-Z’s three children, Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir Carter.
About halfway through the clip, 3-year-old Rumi is dancing along to the “Savage” remix while riding on a golf cart with her mom, and later Blue Ivy, 8, is singing “Brown Skin Girl” in the recording studio. (The song earned Blue Ivy her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 in July.)
“As we all look forward and pray for new beginnings, my wish for you is that you honor yourself and those you love,” she continued in her caption. “Celebrate that you are an important individual who contributes to our beautiful collective. Here’s to a better and brighter 2021!”
